Visit Rouen, France- The Capital of Normandy

This year is the 75th anniversary of D-day and the battle of Normandy

Rouen was formerly one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe and was the seat of the Exchequer of Normandy during the middle ages.

Rouen was one of the capitals of the Anglo-Norman dynasties, which ruled both England and large parts of modern France from the 11th to the 15th centuries and is closely linked to  English medieval history. The Anglo-French kings kept a deep affection for the city. It's location on the banks of The Seine was key to Rouen’s development into one of France’s greatest ports.

During the summer of 2019, a rich and unprecedented program of events will bring the memory of this period of world history to life, all while emphasizing a spirit of hope. The anniversary will be commemorated with military parades, firework displays, airdrops, giant picnics, concerts and military camp re-enactments.
